Playing for Change is back for another year, working to support a great cause: music education for children and youth. It's a celebration of music, of the power of music, and an important fundraising program for music education programs and projects, regionally and globally.
The Playing for Change Saskatchewan project was established in 2012 to bring musicians, dancers, drummers and story-tellers together to build support for music and arts education projects throughout this province and to 15 music schools operated by the Playing for Change Foundation, in 11 countries around the world.
Playing for Change is all of this, and more. Rooted in the music of the streets, PFC has gathered performers from around the globe uniting around the theme of Peace Through Music: to bring people together, to connect the world, to use music as a tool for community development and social justice, and most importantly to highlight the central role that music education can play in a child's intellectual and social development.

This year we have decided to focus some of our PFC Saskatchewan events, with our first concert sharing music and stories in recognition of important moves toward Reconciliation in Canada. We're calling it Building Bridges: Paths to Reconciliation, bringing together both youth and adult performers from Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities.
It's a free concert, presented in partnership with the Cathedral Village Arts Festival, to be held in Holy Rosary Park in Regina on Friday, May 25th, starting at 6 pm. |
